On Monday, during a DPL match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shine Pukur Cricket Club, Tamim Iqbal collapsed on the field at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP), Savar. He was immediately rushed to KPJ Specialized Hospital, where an angiogram procedure was performed to clear a blockage in one of his heart arteries.
Director General of the Health Directorate, Professor Abu Jafar, provided an update on Tamim’s condition, stating:
“Tamim’s condition is improving, and he has started walking a little. However, the next 48 to 72 hours remain crucial. He must avoid any physical exertion and will require at least three months to return to normal activities.”
Positive Signs from Medical Tests
Professor Abdul Wadud, Director of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, confirmed that an echocardiogram performed on Wednesday showed encouraging results.
“His heart function appears normal, but we must remain cautious. Abnormal heart rhythms could still occur, and sudden deterioration cannot be ruled out.”
Doctors have strictly advised against any immediate movements and stressed the importance of constant monitoring to prevent complications.

Tamim’s family is currently discussing the next steps regarding his recovery and future. While his health is improving, doctors have urged his family to ensure he follows medical advice and avoids premature movements.
“His family will make the final decision, but we have strongly recommended that he avoids any physical activity for now,” said Professor Abu Jafar.

Tamim also highlighted how this life-threatening incident has given him a new perspective on life.
“Some incidents remind us of the reality and how short life is. In this small life, it is important to stand beside each other. That is my humble request to everyone.”
The veteran cricketer ended his message with a heartfelt note:
“I am extremely grateful for everyone’s love and prayers. Please continue to pray for me and my family. Without your love and support, Tamim Iqbal is nothing.”
