Southern Brave Extend Unbeaten Run with Crushing Win Over Oval Invincibles

Southern Brave continued their remarkable form in The Hundred 2025, registering their fifth straight victory with a resounding 89-run win over the Oval Invincibles at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. With both bat and ball clicking in unison, Brave showcased why they are the frontrunners this season, extending their unbeaten streak in dominant fashion.

Brave’s Batting Unit Fires in Unison

Openers Lay the Foundation

Electing to bat first, Southern Brave got off to a strong start thanks to the aggressive stroke play of Maia Bouchier and Danni Wyatt-Hodge. The pair stitched together a solid 59-run partnership for the opening wicket. Bouchier’s fluent 34 off 23 balls, laced with four boundaries and a six, set the tone early on, while Wyatt-Hodge contributed a steady 26 off 24 deliveries to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Wolvaardt and Kemp Add Late Fireworks

After the openers departed, Laura Wolvaardt carried the momentum forward with a blistering 36 from just 19 deliveries. Her aggressive knock injected fresh energy into Brave’s innings. Later, Freya Kemp provided the finishing flourish with a quick-fire 24 off 11 balls, including two towering sixes, as Brave pushed past the 150-run mark. Despite losing a few late wickets, they ended with a formidable 161/6 in 100 balls.

Invincibles Collapse in Disastrous Chase

Early Setbacks Derail the Chase

Chasing 162, the Oval Invincibles never found their rhythm. Their innings began with a 12-run opening stand, but once Sophie Devine struck twice in her opening set, removing both openers, the visitors were left reeling.

Brave Bowlers Seal Dominant Victory

From that point, it was a complete demolition job by Brave’s bowling attack. Lauren Bell dismissed Alice Capsey and Paige Scholfield off successive deliveries, breaking the back of the chase. Mady Villiers then ran through the lower order with a superb spell of 3/17, ensuring the Invincibles never recovered.

Only Amanda-Jade Wellington (18) managed to offer some resistance, but with just four batters reaching double digits, the Invincibles folded for a meager 72 all out in 83 balls, suffering one of their heaviest defeats of the tournament.

Standout Performers

  • Southern Brave Batting: Maia Bouchier (34), Laura Wolvaardt (36 off 19), Freya Kemp (24 off 11)

  • Southern Brave Bowling: Mady Villiers (3/17), Lauren Bell (2/11), Sophie Devine (2/15)

  • Oval Invincibles Top Score: Amanda-Jade Wellington (18)

This win firmly places Southern Brave as the team to beat in The Hundred 2025, showcasing their depth in both batting and bowling departments.
