The announcement was made via an IPL media advisory on Monday, April 14.
At just 21 years of age, Smaran brings with him a reputation for consistency and explosive potential. A left-handed batter from Karnataka, he has already made headlines in domestic cricket for his remarkable performances. In the first-class circuit, Smaran has played seven matches, scoring over 500 runs at a stellar average of 64.50. His standout performance includes a double century against Punjab, which showcased his temperament and technical prowess.
In List A cricket, Smaran has scored 433 runs from just 10 matches, boasting an average of 72.16, which includes two centuries. His aggressive style of play is evident in the T20 format as well, where he has amassed 170 runs in six games at an impressive strike rate of 170.
SRH picked Smaran at his base price of INR 30 lakh.
