Shikha Pandey and Shreyanka Patil Set for Return in Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2025

WCPL 2025 Set to Begin on September 6 with Star-Studded Squads
India’s premier allrounders Shikha Pandey and Shreyanka Patil are set to make their return to the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) as the tournament gears up for its 2025 edition, scheduled to begin on September 6. Patil, who has been sidelined due to injury since the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup, will join the Barbados Royals, while Pandey has been retained by Trinbago Knight Riders after a strong showing in the previous season.
The 2025 WCPL promises an exciting line-up of global talent with a mix of experienced internationals and rising young stars across its three franchises: Barbados Royals, Trinbago Knight Riders, and Guyana Amazon Warriors, who are also the hosts this season.

Injury Comeback for the Indian Allrounder
Shreyanka Patil, known for her aggressive bowling and late-order hitting, returns to action after a challenging rehabilitation period. She missed significant cricket due to a shin injury followed by a recent hand fracture, but has now been picked by the two-time champions Barbados Royals, who are aiming for a historic third consecutive title.
The Royals, captained by West Indies star Hayley Matthews, have retained a strong core including Chinelle Henry, Afy Fletcher, and Aaliyah Alleyne, while also welcoming Kycia Knight back to her home franchise. The overseas roster includes Chamari Athapaththu, Georgia Redmayne, and Courtney Webb, giving the side a well-balanced unit across departments.

TKR Eye First Title Under Deandra Dottin’s Leadership
Indian pace allrounder Shikha Pandey continues her association with the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and will once again play under the leadership of Deandra Dottin, one of the most explosive players in women’s T20 cricket. Pandey’s inclusion strengthens TKR’s experienced core which also includes Jess Jonassen and newcomer Lizelle Lee, who is set to make her WCPL debut.

TKR has also invested heavily in youth, drafting Jahzara Claxton, Zaida James, Jannillea Glasgow, and Samara Ramnath, all of whom are 21 years or younger, suggesting a development-oriented approach. The addition of Salonee Dangore, a promising legspinner, adds depth to their spin options.
Guyana Amazon Warriors Host 2025 Season, Retain Strong Core
The Guyana Amazon Warriors are set to host the 2025 WCPL season, with all matches, including the final on September 17, scheduled at the Guyana National Stadium. The franchise has held on to key West Indian players including Stafanie Taylor, Karishma Ramharack, and Shemaine Campbelle, while retaining South African fast bowler Shabnim Ismail and hard-hitting Australian batter Laura Harris for their third season.
A new addition this year is Madeline Penna, the Australian legspinning allrounder, who brings variety and depth to the squad.
Tournament Format: Double Round-Robin Returns
The 2025 WCPL will follow a double round-robin format, with each of the three teams playing the other two sides twice. The top two teams on the points table will qualify for the final on September 17. The tournament is expected to be a key preparatory event ahead of the international women’s cricket calendar later in the year.
