Shafali Verma Returns as Radha Yadav to Lead India A Squad on Australia Tour

BCCI Announces Squads for Multi-Format India A Tour of Australia

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Radha Yadav will captain the India A women’s team on their upcoming multi-format tour of Australia, scheduled from August 7 to 24, 2025. The announcement, made on July 10, brings some positive news for fans as Shafali Verma returns to the one-day format, while injured players like Shreyanka Patil and Titas Sadhu are also in line for comebacks.

The India A team will take part in three T20 matches in Mackay (August 7–10), three one-day matches in Brisbane (August 13–17), and conclude with a four-day fixture at Allan Border Field, Queensland, from August 21 to 24.

Shafali Verma Eyes Comeback to ODI Setup Through A-Team Tour

Struggles with Form Open the Door to A-Team Opportunity

Explosive opener Shafali Verma, who has had a challenging run in the ODI format, has been given another chance to prove her mettle. Her last ODI appearance came against New Zealand in Ahmedabad in October 2024, but after a modest tally of 108 runs across six ODIs last year, she was sidelined from the main squad.

Verma recently returned to India’s T20I setup for the series against England, but did not make the cut for the subsequent ODI matches. Her selection for this A-team tour is expected to act as a pathway to India’s ODI World Cup squad, to be hosted later this year.

Injury Comebacks: Patil and Sadhu Named, Subject to Clearance

Shreyanka Patil and Titas Sadhu Return After Injury Layoffs

The tour marks a significant development for spin-bowling all-rounder Shreyanka Patil, who is included in the T20 squad, pending medical clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). Patil had been out of action since suffering a fracture during a national bowlers’ camp in Bengaluru last month. Her absence from the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and other key series this year left a noticeable void in the squad depth.

Likewise, fast bowler Titas Sadhu makes her return after missing India’s tour to Sri Lanka earlier this year due to an undisclosed injury sustained after the WPL.

Squad Leadership and Emerging Stars

Radha Yadav to Lead, Minnu Mani Named as Deputy

Experienced left-arm spinner Radha Yadav will take charge of both the T20 and one-day squads, with Minnu Mani named as vice-captain. Mani had previously led the team during their last Australia tour, and her leadership qualities and recent form have earned her the deputy role this time around.

Legspinner Priya Mishra has been included in both the one-day and four-day squads, but like Patil, her participation depends on fitness clearance from the CoE.

This tour offers a critical opportunity for India A’s rising stars and returning players to impress selectors ahead of the ODI World Cup. With Shafali Verma aiming for redemption, Patil and Sadhu recovering from injuries, and Radha Yadav bringing leadership experience, India A heads to Australia with both expectations and potential.

The BCCI’s decision to host a comprehensive multi-format tour signals its intent to build squad depth and provide ample match experience to emerging talent. Fans can expect a mix of high-stakes competition, fitness evaluations, and strategic development throughout the month-long campaign.
