Samarawickrama impressed in the 50-over tri-series in Abu Dhabi — a tournament featuring Sri Lanka A, Ireland A, and Afghanistan A. He topped the batting charts as Sri Lanka A’s second highest run-scorer with 197 runs in four innings, including a century and a half-century. His form in limited-overs cricket has earned him this recall.
Madushanka also delivered notable performances, claiming 8 wickets in 4 matches, with a best of 4/37, showcasing his skill and fitness after returning from injury.
Squad Composition and Fitness Watch on Rathnayake
Milan Rathnayake has earned a spot in the ODI squad, although his participation depends on his fitness following a side strain that ruled him out of the second Test against Bangladesh. Rathnayake previously played in the first Test of that series and brings valuable bowling depth.
Among those missing from the team that toured Australia earlier in the year are Nuwanidu Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, and Mohamed Shiraz, reflecting a reshaping of the ODI strategy.
