Rishabh Pant’s Struggles in IPL 2025: Harbhajan Singh Criticizes LSG Captain Amid Team’s Poor Form

LSG Suffers Another Setback as Punjab Kings Dominate
Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) endured a heavy defeat against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their latest IPL 2025 encounter, losing by eight wickets. Despite putting up 171 runs on the board, LSG’s bowling attack failed to defend the target, allowing Punjab to chase it down in just 17 overs.
This loss marks LSG’s second defeat in three games, raising concerns over their performance and team strategy. Amid this disappointing campaign, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has openly criticized LSG captain Rishabh Pant for his poor form with the bat.
Harbhajan Singh Criticizes Rishabh Pant’s Batting Form
“Pant Has Been A Big Shock” – Harbhajan’s Harsh Words for LSG Captain
Harbhajan Singh didn’t hold back in his criticism of Rishabh Pant, pointing out the wicketkeeper-batter’s struggles in the tournament. In three matches, Pant has only managed 17 runs, failing to provide the stability or firepower LSG needs in the middle order.
“Rishabh Pant wasn’t able to do much. His bat has been quiet. They will have to do something about him getting out early. He has been a big shock for the team,” Harbhajan Singh remarked.
According to the former Indian off-spinner, LSG’s batting unit lacked intent after losing the toss. The team failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities, leading to a subpar total that was easily chased by PBKS.
Chahal’s Spell Turns the Game in PBKS’ Favor
Harbhajan also credited Yuzvendra Chahal for his game-changing bowling spell. The veteran leg-spinner dismissed Nicholas Pooran, LSG’s most destructive batter, at a crucial moment.

“Nicholas Pooran played brilliantly, but he was trapped by Yuzvendra Chahal. So when Pooran got out, LSG’s back was pretty much broken,” Harbhajan explained.
Even though Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad provided some late fireworks to push LSG past 170, Harbhajan believed it was never going to be enough against Punjab’s strong batting lineup.
