Rashid Khan to Remain Out of Test Cricket Until November
Rashid Khan Out of Test Cricket Until November 2024
An official from the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced on Friday that Rashid Khan will be unavailable for Test cricket until November 2024. This decision comes following medical advice from his physician, who has recommended that the star leg-spinner avoid participation in long-format cricket due to a previous back operation.
Rashid Khan’s Absence from Upcoming Test Series
Due to this medical advice, Rashid Khan will miss the upcoming one-match Test series against New Zealand, scheduled to take place from September 9-13 in Greater Noida, India. His participation in the two-Test series against Zimbabwe, scheduled for December, is also in doubt. In addition to the Tests, Rashid’s availability for the three ODIs and three T20Is against Zimbabwe remains uncertain. Despite this, Afghanistan Cricket Board’s Chief Executive Naseeb Khan expressed optimism about Rashid’s return.
“Following Rashid Khan’s back surgery last year, his doctors have advised him to abstain from Test cricket for a year,” Naseeb Khan told Cricbuzz on Friday. “We are hopeful that he will be available for the two Tests against Zimbabwe in December.”
Clarification on Rashid Khan’s Injury Status
Recent reports suggested that Rashid Khan suffered an injury during the Shpageeza Cricket League 2024. However, Naseeb Khan has dismissed these claims, confirming that Rashid did not experience any injuries during the league and completed all his matches successfully. Rashid is expected to be fully fit and available for the three-match ODI series in the United Arab Emirates from September 18-22.
