Possible Changes in Bangladesh’s Playing XI for 1st T20I Against Zimbabwe: Najmul Shanto Likely to Replace Litton Das?
Bangladesh is set to face Zimbabwe in the opening match of their five-match T20I series on Friday.
Bangladesh, under the leadership of Najmul Hossain Shanto, has announced a strong squad for the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe. The team features dynamic batters such as Tanzid Hasan, Litton Das, Towhid Hridoy, and veteran all-rounder Mahmudullah.
On the bowling front, Bangladesh boasts talents like Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed, and Ranzim Hasan Sakib, known for their pace and accuracy.
Despite their strengths, Litton Das’s recent form has raised concerns for the team, especially ahead of the crucial T20 World Cup. In his last six T20I innings, Litton has only managed 138 runs at a disappointing average.
Nevertheless, Litton had a successful BPL 2024 season, where he emerged as the third-highest run-scorer with 391 runs at a strike rate of 130.76.
Hence, given his impressive performance in the tournament, Litton is expected to be given a chance in the first game, as this series is crucial for fine-tuning Bangladesh’s preparations for the World Cup.
It is likely that Litton will open the batting alongside Tanzid Hasan Tamim, with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto coming in at number three.
Towhid Hridoy, who was the top scorer for Comilla Victorians in the BPL 2024, is expected to bat at number four, followed by the dependable duo of Mahmudullah and Afif Hossain.
In the absence of Mehidy Miraz, Mahedi Hasan will play as the spin-bowling all-rounder. He will be supported by four genuine bowling options – Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Rishad Hossain, and Shoriful Islam.
