Mumbai Indians Sign Corbin Bosch as Replacement for Injured Lizaad Williams in IPL 2025

South African All-Rounder Joins MI Squad for IPL 2025
Mumbai Indians (MI) have confirmed the signing of South African bowling all-rounder Corbin Bosch as a replacement for Lizaad Williams, who has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to a persistent knee injury. Williams, who was picked by MI for INR 75 Lakh during the auction, had previously missed the SA20 2024 season due to the same injury and has not recovered in time to feature for the five-time IPL champions.
Bosch, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, now gets a golden opportunity to showcase his skills in one of the most competitive T20 leagues in the world.
Corbin Bosch’s Journey to IPL 2025
Impressive Performance in SA20 2024
Bosch, a pace-bowling all-rounder, made a strong impact while playing for MI Cape Town in SA20 2024. He claimed 11 wickets in 8 matches, including an exceptional 4-wicket haul for 19 runs against Sunrisers Eastern Cape. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball made him a valuable asset in the MI setup.
Previous IPL Experience with Rajasthan Royals
This isn’t Bosch’s first IPL stint. He was previously associated with Rajasthan Royals (RR) as a net bowler before being drafted as a replacement for Nathan Coulter-Nile in a previous season. However, he didn’t get a chance to play an IPL match. With MI, Bosch could finally make his long-awaited IPL debut.
International Career and Recent T20 Leagues
Test and ODI Debut for South Africa
Bosch made his Test debut in the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan in December 2024, just days after earning his first international cap in ODIs against the same opposition in Johannesburg. His ability to swing the ball and deliver under pressure earned him a call-up to the national squad as a replacement for the injured Anrich Nortje during the Champions Trophy.
PSL 2025 Selection and Scheduling Conflict
Apart from IPL, Bosch was also picked in the PSL 2025 Draft by Peshawar Zalmi for the Pakistan Super League season, which runs from April 11 to May 18. The IPL 2025 season will be held from March 22 to May 25, meaning Bosch’s focus will primarily be on MI’s campaign before any potential participation in PSL.
Mumbai Indians’ Title Ambitions in IPL 2025
With Bosch’s inclusion, Mumbai Indians have strengthened their bowling depth as they prepare for another title-winning campaign. The franchise, led by Hardik Pandya, will aim to reclaim IPL glory, having last won the title in 2020.

Their IPL 2025 journey begins on March 23 against Delhi Capitals, with Bosch expected to play a key role in MI’s bowling attack.
