Litton Das and Rishad Hossain Granted NOCs for PSL 2025, Set to Miss Zimbabwe Tests

Litton Das Receives NOC for Full PSL 2025 Season
Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das will miss the upcoming two-match Test series against Zimbabwe as he has been granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the entire Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season. The PSL will take place from April 8 to May 19, overlapping with Bangladesh’s Test series, scheduled from April 20 to May 2.
Bangladesh Players Set to Feature in PSL 2025
Partial and Full NOCs Issued
Litton Das recently confirmed to Cricbuzz that he received a full-season NOC, allowing him to represent Karachi Kings in PSL 2025. Meanwhile, young pacer Nahid Rana, who was picked by Peshawar Zalmi, has been granted a partial NOC due to workload management. He is expected to play the first Test against Zimbabwe before joining his PSL franchise.
Additionally, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has also received a full NOC as he is not a part of Bangladesh’s Test setup. Rishad was selected by Lahore Qalandars in the players’ draft held on January 13, 2025.
National Duties vs. Franchise Cricket Debate
The debate surrounding national commitments versus franchise cricket has once again surfaced within Bangladesh’s cricketing circles. Najmul Hossain, who led Bangladesh in the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy, has supported granting NOCs to players for franchise leagues. However, with the Test series preparation set to begin in early April, concerns remain regarding the squad’s composition against Zimbabwe.
Impact on Bangladesh’s Test Squad
Key Players Missing from the Squad
With Litton Das unavailable, Bangladesh will need to explore alternative wicketkeeping options. The team management may consider players like Nurul Hasan or Zakir Hasan to step in. Additionally, Nahid Rana’s partial availability could impact the team’s pace attack, necessitating bowling adjustments.

Zimbabwe Series Schedule Clashes with PSL
The PSL’s schedule directly conflicts with Bangladesh’s Test series against Zimbabwe, creating challenges for player availability. This ongoing issue raises questions about player commitments, as some opt to prioritize franchise cricket over national duty.
The increasing prominence of franchise leagues continues to challenge international cricket commitments. Bangladesh’s situation ahead of the Zimbabwe Test series underscores this dilemma. While Litton Das and Rishad Hossain will fully participate in the PSL, Nahid Rana’s partial NOC reflects an attempt to balance national and league responsibilities. With Bangladesh’s Test preparations set to begin in April, the team management will need to navigate these absences carefully.
