India Dominate Pakistan in Champions Trophy 2025 Clash

India Clinch a Commanding Six-Wicket Victory Over Pakistan

Kohli’s Masterclass Guides India to a Comfortable Win

India showcased their dominance once again in a high-stakes encounter against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. With a clinical bowling performance followed by a masterful chase, India cruised to a six-wicket victory, leaving Pakistan on the brink of elimination from the tournament.

Pakistan Falter Despite a Strong Start

PowerPlay Promise Wasted

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Pakistan began on a positive note, accumulating 52 runs in the first 10 overs. Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq stitched a steady opening stand of 41 runs, but Hardik Pandya broke the partnership, drawing Babar into a false drive. Shortly after, Imam was run out due to a brilliant direct hit from Axar Patel, leaving Pakistan struggling at 52/2.

Middle-Order Stagnation

Pakistan’s middle order found it challenging to maintain momentum against India’s well-calibrated bowling attack. Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel tried to rebuild the innings, but the scoring rate dropped significantly, with only 27 runs coming in the next 10 overs. Shakeel reached a well-fought half-century off 63 balls, but Pakistan lost wickets at crucial junctures.

India’s Spinners and Hardik Shine with the Ball

India’s bowlers adapted smartly to the slow and low nature of the pitch. Kuldeep Yadav (3/40), Hardik Pandya (2/31), and Ravindra Jadeja (1/39) dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup.

Kuldeep Yadav’s 43rd over was the turning point, where he dismissed Salman Ali Agha and Shaheen Afridi off consecutive deliveries. Khushdil Shah’s late resistance (38 off 39 balls) pushed Pakistan to 241 all out in 49.4 overs, but the total seemed inadequate against India’s in-form batting lineup.

India’s Chase – Kohli’s Brilliance and Gill’s Support

India’s chase started with intent as Rohit Sharma raced to 20 off 15 balls before being castled by a sensational in-swinging yorker from Shaheen Afridi. However, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli ensured the momentum stayed with India.

Kohli’s Milestone Innings

Kohli played a vintage knock, bringing his wealth of experience into play. His masterful 100 off 111 balls* anchored India’s chase, marking his 51st ODI century. During his innings, he surpassed 14,000 ODI runs, becoming the fastest batter to reach the milestone.

Shubman Gill (46) and Shreyas Iyer (56 off 67 balls) played valuable supporting roles before India comfortably sealed the win in 42.3 overs with six wickets in hand.

Match Summary & Key Performances

Pakistan: 241 all out in 49.4 overs
(Saud Shakeel 62, Mohammad Rizwan 46; Kuldeep Yadav 3/40, Hardik Pandya 2/31)

India’s Dominance in ICC Events Continues

This victory further strengthens India’s reputation as a team that thrives under pressure in ICC tournaments. The clinical performance puts them one step closer to securing a semi-final berth, while Pakistan faces an uphill battle to stay alive in the tournament.
