In-Form Top Order and Prasidh Krishna Star in GT’s Dominant Win Over SRH

Gujarat Titans’ Powerplay Brilliance Sets the Tone

A commanding performance from Gujarat Titans’ (GT) top order, combined with a disciplined bowling display led by Prasidh Krishna, secured a 38-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Narendra Modi Stadium. GT’s batting troika—Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler, and Sai Sudharsan—once again showcased their form, propelling the Titans to a match-winning total of 224/6. In return, despite a fighting knock from Abhishek Sharma, SRH could only muster 186/6.

GT’s Record-Breaking Start

Powerplay: Explosive Opening from Sudharsan and Gill

GT’s openers came out firing, producing their most prolific Powerplay of the season, finishing at 82/0—also the highest-ever Powerplay total at the Ahmedabad venue. Shubman Gill began the onslaught with a flicked six off Mohammed Shami, followed by a flurry of boundaries from Sudharsan off the same bowler. Sudharsan’s elegant strokeplay, featuring well-timed flicks and pulls, saw him hit five boundaries in a single over.

The pair reached 50 inside just four overs, marking their sixth half-century partnership of the season. Sudharsan continued to punish the bowlers, particularly Harshal Patel, smashing four boundaries in an over. Gill, meanwhile, attacked Pat Cummins and Unadkat with equal confidence, ensuring GT reached an imposing 82 without loss at the end of six overs.

Middle Overs: Gill and Buttler Consolidate

Buttler’s Milestone and Gill’s Command

Sudharsan’s brisk innings ended at 48 when he edged a googly from Zeeshan Ansari to the keeper. Enter Jos Buttler, who marked his arrival with a straight six and soon crossed the 4000-run mark in IPL, becoming the third fastest to do so.

Gill, unfazed, struck two more boundaries to reach his 25-ball half-century. With Buttler joining in, the duo stitched a strong stand. Even though GT lost Gill via a run-out after a mix-up with Buttler, the Titans kept the scoreboard ticking, reaching 162/2 at the end of the 15th over.

Death Overs: Buttler and Lower Order Power GT Past 220

Finishing Touches by Buttler, Shahrukh, and Tewatia

Buttler brought up his fifty with a six and continued his aggressive approach by hitting two more maximums off Zeeshan Ansari in the 17th over. GT crossed 200 in the 18th over, thanks to another flurry of boundaries from the former England captain. He was eventually dismissed for a well-made 64, caught at long-on off Pat Cummins.

Shahrukh Khan chipped in with a six, while Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia added valuable runs in the dying overs, taking GT to a formidable 224/6 at the end of 20 overs.

SRH’s Chase Falters Despite Abhishek Sharma’s Heroics

Powerplay: Decent Start but GT Pulls Ahead

SRH began brightly with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head finding the boundaries early. However, Prasidh Krishna’s short ball proved effective, removing Head for a quick 19. GT bowlers, led by Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh, maintained tight lines to restrict SRH to 57/1 after the Powerplay—25 runs fewer than GT’s score at the same stage.

Middle Overs: Abhishek Fights On but Support Lacks

Abhishek continued to counterattack, reaching his half-century in just 28 balls. He smashed Rashid Khan for a six and four in quick succession, but wickets kept falling at the other end. Ishan Kishan’s sluggish innings (13 off 17) ended thanks to Gerald Coetzee, making his GT debut.

Prasidh’s exceptional bowling in the middle overs dried up the boundaries. He bowled a key over conceding just four runs and almost dismissed Abhishek LBW, saved only by umpire’s call. The increasing required rate put SRH under immense pressure.

Death Overs: GT Seals Comprehensive Win

Prasidh Krishna capped off a brilliant spell by dismissing Heinrich Klaasen and finishing with figures of 2 for 19 in 4 overs. Siraj chipped in with two late wickets as SRH’s hopes faded. Though Rashid Khan conceded 21 in the penultimate over, it was too late for a turnaround. Sai Kishore bowled a tidy final over to seal a clinical win.
