Davina Perrin’s Blazing 72 Powers Northern Superchargers to the Top with Convincing Win Over Trent Rockets

Superchargers Dominate to Keep Perfect Record Intact
Northern Superchargers Women produced a clinical performance to climb to the top of The Hundred 2025 Women’s standings, comfortably defeating Trent Rockets Women by eight wickets at Headingley.
It was Davina Perrin who stole the spotlight, smashing an unbeaten 72 off just 40 balls, as her side made light work of a modest 129-run target. Despite a lone fightback from Ashleigh Gardner (61 off 32), the Rockets slumped to their second defeat in as many matches, remaining winless in the tournament.
Rockets Stumble After Horror Start
Choosing to bat first, Trent Rockets faced immediate trouble, slumping to 5/3 inside the first 20 balls.
Grace Ballinger’s opening burst set the tone, conceding just three runs off the bat in her opening 10-ball spell.
Amid the early chaos, Bryony Smith was run out, while Natasha Wraith and Grace Scrivens were dismissed cheaply by Linsey Smith and Kate Cross respectively.
Gardner Fights Back with Counterattack
From that point, Gardner and Nat Sciver-Brunt attempted to rebuild. Sciver-Brunt managed a maximum over mid-wicket, while Gardner peppered the boundaries with precision strokes.
The pair added 42 runs, but Sciver-Brunt’s departure for 15 off Cross halted the momentum. Gardner, however, pressed on, reaching a 26-ball fifty and showcasing her trademark aggressive style. Her innings included 10 fours, before falling to Ballinger while trying to clear the deep mid-wicket boundary.
With wickets tumbling at regular intervals — including Emma Jones, Heather Graham, and Alana King — the Rockets closed on 128/8, a total that felt below par on a good batting surface.
Perrin Leads the Chase with Flawless Stroke Play
In stark contrast to the Rockets’ sluggish start, the Superchargers’ reply was explosive.
Openers Davina Perrin and Alice Davidson-Richards reached a 50-run stand in just 32 balls, with Perrin doing most of the damage. She punished anything short or wide, finding the fence repeatedly.
Davidson-Richards’ dismissal for 11 didn’t slow the momentum, as Phoebe Litchfield arrived with immediate intent, hitting a flurry of boundaries. The duo’s aggressive approach meant the target was never in doubt.
By the time Litchfield fell for 21, the Superchargers were already within touching distance. Perrin’s unbeaten 72 — featuring 12 fours — ensured the chase was wrapped up with 21 balls to spare, cementing her side’s unbeaten start to the season.
