Bowlers Shine as Trent Rockets Secure Back-to-Back Wins in The Hundred 2025

Dominant Bowling Display Sets Up Comfortable Win
The Trent Rockets continued their winning momentum in The Hundred 2025 with a second successive victory, defeating the Northern Superchargers by five wickets at Trent Bridge. On a surface offering grip and assistance to bowlers, it was Akeal Hosein’s destructive new-ball spell that laid the foundation for the Rockets’ triumph.
After restricting the visitors to 124/9 in their 100 balls, the Rockets chased down the target with four balls to spare, maintaining their steady climb up the points table.
Early Breakthroughs Put Superchargers on the Back Foot
Opting to bowl first, Rockets skipper made the perfect call as Hosein immediately struck twice in the opening over. His first victim was Dawid Malan, trapped lbw by a delivery that drifted in. Just two balls later, Zak Crawley fell to a similar ball that straightened after pitching.
With both openers dismissed cheaply, the Superchargers found themselves in deep trouble at the start. The situation worsened as Michael Pepper and Dan Lawrence failed to make any impact, leaving the score at a precarious 34/4.

Harry Brook’s Resistance and Mid-Innings Revival
Stoinis Strikes Twice in a Set
While most batters struggled, Harry Brook showed class and intent, smashing Hosein for a six and a four in consecutive deliveries before repeating the feat against David Willey. Alongside Graham Clark, he forged a much-needed partnership that looked set to rescue the Superchargers’ innings.
However, the introduction of Marcus Stoinis changed the game’s complexion. In a stunning two-ball burst, Stoinis removed Brook and Imad Wasim off successive deliveries, finishing his first set with astonishing figures of 2/0. Soon after, Clark was dismissed by Rehan Ahmed, and from that point, the visitors limped their way to 124.
Rockets’ Chase: Steady Start, Minor Stumbles
Unlike their opponents, the Rockets made a confident start with Tom Banton finding the boundary early and Joe Root overcoming a scratchy beginning to launch a six off Matthew Potts. The duo put on a solid opening stand, taking the team nearly halfway to the target.
But Imad Wasim, keen to make amends after a modest batting outing, struck twice in quick succession, removing both Banton and Root to give the Superchargers a glimmer of hope.
Spinners Keep the Game Alive, But Rockets Hold Firm
The Superchargers spinners kept chipping away, with Adil Rashid claiming two crucial wickets. Yet, Rehan Ahmed’s earlier impact in the first innings had already tilted the contest towards the Rockets. In the closing stages, Stoinis and Adam Hose calmly finished the chase, sealing the win with four balls to spare.
Brief Scores:
Northern Superchargers: 124/9 in 100 balls (Harry Brook 45, Graham Clark 36; Marcus Stoinis 2/0, Rehan Ahmed 2/23)
Trent Rockets: 128/5 in 96 balls (Tom Banton 37; Imad Wasim 3/19)
Result: Trent Rockets won by 5 wickets
