Rising cricket star Ayush Mhatre has been named captain of the Mumbai squad for the prestigious Buchi Babu Memorial Tournament 2025, organized annually by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). The 18-year-old’s appointment is a significant moment in his budding career, highlighting his growing stature in domestic cricket. The multi-day tournament will take place in Chennai from August 18 to September 9.
Mhatre has enjoyed a rapid rise in recent months. He made an impression during his brief stint with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, and his leadership skills came to the fore as he captained the India Under-19 side on their tour of England earlier this summer. He is also set to lead the team in Australia next month, underlining his growing leadership credentials.
