Dottin Shines as Manchester Originals Edge Northern Superchargers in Last-Over Thriller

Deandra Dottin’s Power-Hitting Lifts Originals to Narrow Victory

Manchester Originals Women pulled off a nerve-wracking five-run victory against Northern Superchargers Women in The Hundred 2025 clash at Old Trafford. The match went down to the wire, with Deandra Dottin’s explosive unbeaten half-century proving the difference as the Originals defended a modest total of 117.

The win pushed Manchester Originals to third place in the points table, while the Superchargers missed an opportunity to climb to the top, suffering their second defeat of the season.

Dottin’s Blazing Knock Rescues Manchester Originals

Put in to bat on a tricky surface, the Originals were jolted early as openers Beth Mooney and Kathryn Bryce fell cheaply. Kate Cross struck twice in her fiery opening spell, reducing the hosts to 12/2 inside the powerplay.

Amelia Kerr and young batter Seren Smale attempted to rebuild, but their dismissals left the side struggling at 58/4 after 68 balls. That’s when Deandra Dottin walked in and completely changed the complexion of the innings.

Dottin’s Power-Filled Finish

Arriving with just 42 deliveries left, Dottin launched an aggressive counterattack. She showcased her trademark power-hitting, hammering six boundaries and three towering sixes in her unbeaten 51 off 26 balls.

Her whirlwind innings not only rescued the Originals from a potential collapse but also ensured they posted a fighting total of 117/5 — one that eventually proved match-winning.

Superchargers Collapse After Promising Start

The chase for Northern Superchargers began steadily despite losing an early wicket. Phoebe Litchfield (31 off 27) and Alice Davidson-Richards (29 off 26) steadied the innings with a crucial 64-run partnership for the second wicket.

At 74/2, the Superchargers appeared in control, requiring just 43 runs from 39 balls. But the Originals bowlers staged a stunning comeback.

Kerr and Ecclestone Deliver Under Pressure

Amelia Kerr turned the tide with a double strike, dismissing key middle-order batters and sparking a collapse of 4 wickets for 17 runs. With the pressure mounting, Sophie Ecclestone removed Bess Heath in a dramatic moment — brilliantly caught in the deep by none other than Dottin.

Lauren Filer then struck in the final over, dismissing Kate Cross to seal a thrilling victory. The Superchargers were eventually restricted to 112/7, falling agonizingly short of the target.
