Noor Ahmad’s Four-Wicket Haul Powers Texas Super Kings to Commanding Victory Over LA Knight Riders – MLC 2025

Super Kings Clinch Back-to-Back Wins with All-Round Dominance

The Texas Super Kings (TSK) continued their impressive start to the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 campaign, registering their second consecutive win with a comprehensive 57-run victory over the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) on June 15 in California. The match was a showcase of tactical brilliance and well-rounded team performance, led by Noor Ahmad’s outstanding 4-wicket haul.

After a close opening win against MI New York, this dominant display firmly establishes TSK as one of the early title contenders in MLC 2025.

TSK’s Top-Order Struggles but Middle-Order Steps Up

Early Wickets and Rescue Cameos

Sent in to bat first, TSK had a shaky start with Faf du Plessis once again falling early. The skipper, under scrutiny after his previous low score, managed just 8 balls before falling to a toe-crushing yorker from Andre Russell.

The momentum briefly swung back in TSK’s favor thanks to a brisk cameo from Saiteja Mukkamalla, who struck two sixes to revive the powerplay phase. Devon Conway, continuing his rich form from the first match, added valuable runs at the other end, racing to 34 off 21 before miscuing one to long-off.

However, TSK’s batters struggled to convert starts. Despite several players getting into double figures, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, preventing the kind of innings acceleration that could have pushed the score past 200.

Mitchell and Ferreira Drive TSK to a Strong Finish

When Conway departed, Daryl Mitchell was forced to anchor the innings, but he struggled to find rhythm, at one stage stuck on 13 off 18 balls. However, he managed to redeem himself with a late surge, lifting his strike rate beyond 100 with a clever scoop shot for six against Russell.

Just as the innings was stagnating, Donovan Ferreira walked in and injected much-needed energy. His unbeaten 32 off 16 deliveries, including a flurry of boundaries in the final overs, pushed the total to a respectable 181/4 in 20 overs.

Early Strikes Crush LAKR’s Chase Hopes

The chase began in disarray for LA Knight Riders. Adam Milne got the early breakthrough, trapping Andre Fletcher in front of the stumps in the very first over. Alex Hales tried to swing the momentum with two sixes, but his dismissal set off a collapse.

Noor Ahmad ended the powerplay with the dismissal of Nitish Kumar, and LAKR were already gasping at the end of six overs.

Noor Ahmad’s Spell Turns the Game

In what turned out to be the defining spell of the match, Noor Ahmad returned to dismantle the heart of LAKR’s lineup. After Stephen Wiig removed Hales, Noor bagged back-to-back wickets of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine—two of LAKR’s biggest hitters—off consecutive deliveries.

Suddenly, LAKR were down to 74/7, with over 100 runs still required. Any hopes of a comeback were extinguished, and it became a matter of time.

Tail-End Resistance Falls Short

There was some late resistance from Shadley van Schalkwyk, who top-scored with 27, but the task proved too steep. LAKR’s innings eventually folded for 124 in 17.1 overs, giving TSK a massive 57-run win. Adam Milne was also exceptional, finishing with 2/8, while Noor claimed 4/25, earning him the Player of the Match honors.
