Sajid Khan and Abrar Ahmed Spin Pakistan to Victory in Multan

Sajid Khan and Abrar Ahmed Spin Pakistan to Victory in Multan

Sajid Khan and Abrar Ahmed powered Pakistan to a dominant 127-run victory against the West Indies in the first Test match in Multan. Sajid’s five-wicket haul and Abrar’s post-lunch brilliance with four wickets dismantled the visitors, sealing the win in just three days. Despite a fighting half-century by Alick Athanaze, the West Indies could not handle Pakistan’s spin attack and were bowled out for 123 runs in their second innings.

Sajid Khan’s Early Strikes Set the Tone

Pakistan made their intentions clear from the start, with Sajid Khan tearing through the West Indies’ top order. The visitors limped to 54/5 by lunch, as Sajid dismissed Kraigg Brathwaite, Keacy Carty, and Kavem Hodge with his deceptive off-spin. At 37/3, the pressure mounted, and Mikyle Louis fell while attempting an ill-advised big shot. Sajid’s relentless spell left the visitors in tatters, making a comeback nearly impossible.

Abrar Ahmed Shines Post-Lunch

After lunch, Abrar Ahmed took over and continued the destruction. His three wickets, including a near hat-trick, ensured a quick collapse for the West Indies. Abrar dismissed Kevin Sinclair and Gudakesh Motie in successive deliveries, and though Jomel Warrican survived the hat-trick ball, he was bowled out soon after. Abrar’s spell complemented Sajid’s early breakthroughs perfectly, helping Pakistan dominate on their home soil.

Alick Athanaze’s Lone Resistance

West Indies’ Alick Athanaze offered some resistance with a composed half-century. Partnering with wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach, the duo added 41 runs for the sixth wicket. Athanaze showcased brilliant stroke play, but once Imlach was dismissed by Abrar, the innings fell apart quickly. Athanaze was trapped LBW by Sajid, who completed his five-wicket haul, leaving the West Indies without answers to Pakistan’s spin attack.

Jomel Warrican’s Heroics Go in Vain

Earlier in the day, Jomel Warrican gave the West Indies hope with a remarkable seven-wicket haul. His spell of 7/32 dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup in their second innings, with the hosts collapsing to 157 after starting the day in a strong position. Warrican’s performance included key dismissals of Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel, and Kamran Ghulam. Despite his efforts, Pakistan’s spinners outshone him and led their team to victory.

A Remarkable Comeback for Pakistan

Pakistan’s victory marked a strong comeback after their struggles earlier in the game. Sajid Khan and Abrar Ahmed’s brilliance in both innings overshadowed Warrican’s seven-wicket haul and helped the hosts secure a 1-0 lead in the series. The Multan crowd witnessed an outstanding display of spin bowling that will be remembered for years to come.
