India C put up a strong batting display on Day 2 of their encounter against India B at the Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantapur. Thanks to Manav Suthar’s rapid 82, India C managed to post an imposing total of 525 runs in their first innings. Despite early success by India B’s bowlers, particularly Mukesh Kumar and Rahul Chahar, who both claimed four wickets, India C’s lower order resisted fiercely.

Beginning the day at the crease, India C’s captain Ruturaj Gaikwad completed his half-century but soon fell victim to Mukesh Kumar, who secured his fourth wicket. However, India B’s hopes of wrapping up the innings quickly were dashed as the India C tailenders dug in.

India C’s Lower Order Stands Strong

Suthar, alongside Mayank Markande, pushed India C past the 400-run mark. Markande eventually fell to Nitish Reddy, but not before contributing crucial runs. Later, Anshul Kamboj formed a brisk 55-run partnership with Suthar, scoring 38 off just 27 balls, including five boundaries and two sixes. Lower-order batters Vyshak Vijaykumar and Sandeep Warrier also played their part, sticking around long enough for Suthar to accelerate. Suthar’s explosive knock included 11 boundaries and three sixes, but he narrowly missed out on a century, getting dismissed by Chahar for 82.

Rahul Chahar continued his excellent form with the ball, dismissing both Vijaykumar and Kamboj, helping India B eventually dismiss India C for 525. Chahar finished with figures of 4-73, while Mukesh Kumar claimed 4-126.

India B’s Strong Start in Reply

In response, India B openers N Jagadeesan and Abhimanyu Easwaran took a positive approach. Both openers reached their respective half-centuries, bringing up a solid 100-run partnership without losing a wicket. Jagadeesan remained unbeaten on 67 at the end of the day, hitting eight boundaries along the way. Meanwhile, captain Easwaran contributed with an unbeaten 51. By stumps, India B stood at 124/0, trailing India C by 401 runs.

Despite India C’s formidable total, India B’s openers have laid a strong foundation for a potential fightback on Day 3.

Brief Scores:

  • India B: 124/0 (N Jagadeesan 67*, Abhimanyu Easwaran 51*)
  • India C: 525 (Ishan Kishan 111, Manav Suthar 82, Baba Indrajith 78; Rahul Chahar 4-73, Mukesh Kumar 4-126)
