Ishan Kishan to Miss Duleep Trophy 2024; Sanju Samson Expected to Replace Him
Ishan Kishan Likely to Miss Duleep Trophy Opener Due to Injury
Indian opening batsman Ishan Kishan is expected to miss the opening match of the Duleep Trophy 2024, which is set to commence in Anantapur on Thursday, September 5. Reports from Cricbuzz indicate that Kishan, a key player for Shreyas Iyer’s Team D, is dealing with an injury issue that may prevent him from participating in the game. As a result, Sanju Samson, who was initially left out of the squad announcements, is anticipated to be named as Kishan’s replacement for the upcoming fixture.
It remains uncertain whether Ishan Kishan will return to play in the remaining matches of the four-day Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament. This uncertainty arises because selections for the Indian team for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, which includes two matches later this month, are yet to be finalized. There is a possibility that Kishan could be chosen for this series, which might impact his availability for the remainder of the Duleep Trophy competition.
If Kishan is selected for the Bangladesh Tests, he may only rejoin the tournament during the latter part of the six-game series. Each team in the Duleep Trophy is scheduled to play three matches, with Team D set to face Team A in Anantapur on September 12.
