Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) Set to Launch Its Inaugural Season
The Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) has officially announced the launch of the Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL), with its inaugural season scheduled to take place from September 15 to September 22, 2024, in Dehradun. This much-anticipated league promises to bring a new level of excitement and competitive spirit to the regional cricket scene.
Exciting Format and Competition
The UPL will feature a dynamic round-robin format, with both men’s and women’s teams competing for the titles. A total of 16 matches will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun. The league aims to showcase local talent and provide a platform for players to gain exposure to national scouts and selectors.
Player Draft and Marquee Players
The UPL Player Draft is scheduled for September 1st in Dehradun. During the draft, eight teams will select one marquee player each. The five men’s teams will have the option to choose from marquee players such as Akash Madhwal, Rajan Kumar, Aditya Tare, and R. Samarth. For the women’s teams, Ekta Bisht, Neelam Bisht, and Mansi Joshi will be the available marquee players.

The prize money for the winners and runners-up is as follows:
- Winner (Men’s Team): Rs. 25 Lakhs
- Runner-up (Men’s Team): Rs. 15 Lakhs
- Winner (Women’s Team): Rs. 7 Lakhs
- Runner-up (Women’s Team): Rs. 3 Lakhs
Opening Ceremony Highlights
The UPL will be broadcast live on JioCinema and Sports 18. The opening ceremony will feature a performance by Indian Punjabi singer, actor, and former cricketer Harrdy Sandhu. The event will be graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, and Hon’ble M.P. (Rajya Sabha) and Vice President of the BCCI, Shri Rajeev Shukla, who will serve as the Chief Guests.
