In a notable turn of events, Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and one of Pakistan’s interior ministers, is expected to be appointed as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). If this transition occurs, Naqvi will succeed Jay Shah, the current Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Shah is anticipated to take on a new role as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Jay Shah, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is currently serving as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), a role he has continued in after his term was extended by a year in January. According to Cricket Pakistan, Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is expected to be the leading candidate to succeed Shah as the next ACC President when Shah’s term concludes in January 2025.
The ACC President position is filled based on a rotational policy among its member boards. As per the report, Naqvi is poised to assume the role of ACC President and will likely hold this position for a two-year term. In addition to his responsibilities as PCB Chairman and Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Naqvi will take on this new role, significantly enhancing his influence in the cricketing administration.
Although no official confirmation has been made yet, it is anticipated that the ACC will formally announce the appointment of its new President during its upcoming meeting scheduled for October-November.
