Former England World Cup-Winning Captain Predicts T20 World Cup Champions: ‘They Have the Potential to Defeat Any Team
India is preparing for the T20 World Cup, starting on June 1st in the USA and West Indies. Former England captain Eoin Morgan has described India as the ‘most formidable team’ in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
During a discussion with former England captains Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain on Sky Sports Cricket, Morgan commended the Indian team’s depth, foreseeing them as a major contender in the tournament.
England Legend’s Remark on T20 World Cup: What He Said
“Morgan hailed India as the strongest side in the tournament, even in the face of injuries. He praised their remarkable strength and depth.”
“We’re probably discussing the players who were excluded from the 15-member squad due to their exceptional quality.”
“They are the favorites for me. With the quality they possess on paper, if they deliver, I believe they can outperform any team in the tournament,” he added.
Despite being considered favorites in nearly every tournament, India has not clinched an ICC title in over ten years. Their last triumph was in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
Ahead of this year’s T20 World Cup, India has largely maintained the squad from the previous edition while incorporating new talents such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Sanju Samson.
